Society events

Our next event will be the Lanky Day Out in and around Penistone on Saturday 28 June. Full details will be in Magazine 303 but please note that the venue has changed to Penistone Scout Activity Centre, Wentworth Road, Penistone S36 6ET

Our AGM & Members’ Day 2025 will be on Saturday 11 October. The AGM itself will be at Oxenhope Community Centre and in the afternoon we are hoping to arrange a special event to mark our 75th anniversary. Full details will be in Magazine 304 which will be published in August.

Animated Passenger Timetable

L&YR Society members, Brian Farrimond, John McGiveron, Frank Ball and Alec Ralph have transcribed the L&YR tables of Bradshaw’s Railway Guide of 1906. The transcription has been used to create on-line animations of the running of the L&YR passenger service on a week day and a Sunday.

The transcription will also be used by the Edge Hill University 3D Parametric Modelling Project in their development of tools to create a visualisation of the entire railway.
