Over the years various senior officers of the LYR took out patents for new inventions; some read papers to learned professional institutions and to major railway conferences in Britain, Europe and the USA.

Thousands of instructions to staff were issued, as well as all the publicity material and public timetables.

Only a tiny fraction of these have survived but over the years the Society has collected whatever has become available and modern technology now allows us to make many of these accessible through digitisation.

Through the good offices and cooperation of other organisations we are also able to make available material from other collections. These are credited where they appear.

The material is made available for research and study purposes only. Anyone wishing to use material for publication or other purposes should contact the Society or the credited organisation.
